About Lemoenpoort Boerdery
A SEVENTH-
GENERATION FARM
Proudly Fairtrade accredited, the Lemoenpoort Farm dates back to 1831 and has been under the ownership of the Viljoen family for over 190 years. In addition to being a relaxing countryside escape for guests, our working farm produces grapes exclusive to BC Wines and supplies local markets with pears, watermelon and sweet melon.
SINCE

BC WINES
BRANDVLEI CELLARS
Lemoenpoort Wine Farm is one of the proud producers of BC Wines (Brandvlei Cellar Wines). The cellar was founded in 1955 and is located off the R43 road between Worcester and Villiersdorp in the beautiful Breede River Valley. Visit the cellar for wine tastings and wine sales.
SIGNATURE WINES
FRUIT FARMING
WORLD-CLASS FRUIT EXPORTERS
Our farm predominantly exports wine, pears and apples to the UK, USA and the Middle East but we also supply the local market with pears, watermelon and sweet melon. Should you visit De Goede Hoop Farmstead during our harvesting season you will be welcomed to a selection of fresh farm fruits as part of our complimentary extras for guests.

COMMUNITY
THE HEART & SOUL OF OUR FARM
Lemoenpoort is a Fairtrade certified farm and with the premiums returned to the farm workers through the sale of Fairtrade wine, we have been lucky enough to facilitate and fund a number of exciting projects for the community.
BEE BLESSED WAX WRAPS
Lemoenpoort has a vibrant women’s club that runs its own project to generate funds for the community, namely Bee Blessed Beeswax Wraps. These female entrepreneurs manufacture and sell their products at Christmas markets and retail outlets nationwide. The profits generated are then reinvested in educational outings and workshops to empower them and broaden their horizons across the board.
ALL COMMUNITY PROJECTS

Bee Blessed Wax Wraps
Our Bee Blessed Wax Wraps project has been a huge success and funds further projects for our Women’s Club.

Haasbekkie Daycare Centre
Our Haasbekkie Daycare centre provides daily care to 45 children (between the ages of 3 months and 5 years) from 5 farms in the area, including Lemoenpoort. They receive educational stimulation through an ECD program called ‘Leer en Leef”.

Lemoenpoort Primary School
Our Primary School enrolls 100 pupils from the community and the Fairtrade Project funds 3 assistant teachers’ salaries. The pupils also receive music, art, drama, and private choir lessons.

Gardening Competition
We run a yearly gardening competition amongst our community to encourage healthy habits.

First Aid Courses
Teachers employed at Haasbekkie Daycare Centre received first-aid courses to further their skills.

Winter Clothes
Our Fairtrade projects fund winter jackets for every farm worker as well as electricity for their households.

School Clothes
Our Fairtrade projects allow us to fund new school clothes for all of the Lemoenpoort children on a yearly basis as well as school entry fees for high-school students.
